- There is no problem with asking any question about programming in C,
- with a few provisos:
- 1) Questions that are platform-dependent are not actually about C.
- These are best asked in newsgroups for those platforms. In addition
- to being off-topic for comp.lang.c, those other newsgroups have
- regular contributors who are likely to know about your problem.

- 2) There is no reason for questions that are answered by reading the
- FAQ, which is available by anonymous FTP from rtfm.mit.edu. I will
- guarantee they will be flamed.

- 3) Requests for programs are best asked in a sources.wanted or binary
- newsgroup or in one for the application area. They are off-topic
- here. Similarly, there are algorithm, math, science, database, etc.
- newsgroups.

- 4) When you have a problem, don't try to describe it in English. Post
- a minimal example of the code which demonstrates the problem and
- show what happens and why this is a problem.
